Subject: North Hollywood bank shootout........could it happen again? Mon Aug 16, 2010 9:33 pm
Well who am I kidding ofcourse it could lol.
Bank robbers, cops in Hollywood California of all places blazing it out.......they couldnt have scripted a movie better.
The thing that concerns me about this incident now more than anything looking back on is realizing how much damage and casualties Larry Phillips and Emil Matasareanu could have caused if instead of robbers trying to get away from the police they had have been terrorists trying to kill anything in sight.
With the epic failure of more than 300 LAPD cops that day to down 2 heavily armed gunmen in a busy residential and business area of a big U.S. city for nearly 45 minutes,it is fair to consider that the same situation could occure some place else today and that hundreds of victims could be felled before the police are even able to corner the killers.
Thank god that Al Qaida thinks to hard when planning shit.I mean look at what Cho Seung Hui did at Virginia Tech....32 dead......30 in less than 10 minutes and not with an Ak but with a pistol.
Now imagine 10 military trained jihadists with sub machine guns or assault rifles going into 10 different locations like malls or clubs or office buildings across 10 cities and just mowing down as many people as they could before police gunned them down, likely in a ferocious exchange of gunfire. How many people do you think they could murder before stopped?
And guns are cheaper than bombs and easier to conceal as would be the plot.I mean even a terrorist sympatheizer like that Arab Army phsyciatrist was able to penetrate the secure perimeter of Fort Bragg with 2 pistols and cause 40+ casualties in a matter of minutes.
And guns in the hands of a determines experienced shooter can cause as many casualties as an explosive device. What if that would be NY Times Square bomber had have just stepped out of that SUV with an AR 15 and started spraying into crowds instead?Like I said fortunetly for us,terrorists think to hard on like 9/11 scale attacks and dont think more simply. The worst thing about gun type of attacks is that like the sniper case it would cast the entire country into a state of panic and fear because they could have hundreds of terrorists with guns waiting to strike anywhere at anytime.
The world saw a little bit of how such an attack would liekly play out back in November of 08 when terrorist seperatists laid seige to Inida's most powerful and influential city of Mumbai killing more than 100 people and locking the city down a week and a half while shooting it out with police and army units. It proved that a North Hollywood type incident would be much more effective ina major urban area than an attempt at another 9/11.

lol, though it was before even GTA 1.......some have actually speculated in the past though that the North Hollywood incident may have been an influence for the GTA 3 post free roam era(2001).

its scary to think but the boldness and ruthlessness of Emil Matesaraneau and Larry Phillips is now almost common place amongst already dangerous criminals.
In recent months since last year, officers killed in the line of duty has gone up and given what happened last year and what is happening this year like you said Colt:
