| Take a good look at this face ladies and gentleman: 30 years from now you will likely see it in an NFL uniform and its mouth still speaking of "retirement in the near future"lol. At the age of 40 years old Brett Favre(who is probably the most celebrated professional football quarterback ever or atleats since Joe Montana)has announced for a 5th season that he will quash his earlier retirement plans and play "one more season" with the Minnesota Vikings, making it his 2nd season with the team which had previously seen superstar success with ex-QB Michael Vick. Ofcourse the Vikings who are suffering for talent and starving for another run at the Superbowl arent about to say no to an aging but well established and accomplished superstar sportsman like Favre.Like Michael Jordan,Mohammed Ali,Matt Hughes and many other athletic legends,I think that Mr.Favre is really finding it notoriously difficult to just walk away from the game and thing that he has done best for the past 2 decades. Many are wondering why he keeps coming back........is it for a 2nd Superbowl win, because he still really feels he has it or just bored at home?It may be a little of everything including a sheer sontemplation of mid-life crisis.I think that he does not feel that his career is fullfilled enough and even after several years of playing with and being known for wearing the Green Bay Packers uniform,he still feels like he has something to prove. Noone really knows when your done but you, however there is a lurking danger to aging athletes still trying to compete in a game or individual sport where there are so many new up and coming young, hungry competitors waiting to shine and take their place in the blossom field lol....the main of these being injury but more likely the tarnishing of one's own image, especially if you are an MJ or Brett Favre. At some point superbowl or not I think Brett is going to have to come to terms with his own common sense and ask if pursuing his own personal endeavors is worth the "household"status that he has made for his name being remembered for something else and or less than all he has achieved throughout his magnificent career. What do you guys think? |

| Hehe I know Im probably in the minority but I think the Vikings will go all the way so that Favre can be satisfied.(Even though I dont want them too). |

| Look people,Brett Favre is one of the greatest professional football quarter backs of all time and certainyl the best of the 1990's and early 2000's.He knwo he has nothing left to prove and has seen his better days.
I tie his refusal to retire to Roger Clemons never giving up pitching lol.Maybe its because Im an old fart' too so I can better relate then all of you young guns lmao but just let the man have fun.......he wants to play his sport.
Hasnt he earned a little free time??? |

Hasnt he earned a little free time??? | +1 Peter,I think he catches a little too much flack for suffering through Mid athlete life crisis lol.
MJ had the same problem with retiring and I have a distinct feeling that Anderson Silva and many other greats will too.
Your talking about a person whom all their life have built a reputation, fame, wealth, fanbase, status and life commitment off of their skill and talent on a ball field.
Would it be just that easy for any one of us to just walk away from something we have done most of our life and loved doing it in the process?
Most likely not......sports superstars are human too. |

Just because we get old we are supposed to just drift away into nothingness lol?FUCK YOU!(not you colt just saying in general ).
Leave us alone.I cant wait to see what all these commentating idiots and young punks say when they get our age.
Its easy to talk about someone else retiring when your in the blossom years because they seem as if they will last forever. |

I mean when was the last time Green Bay won a championship with this guy?97'?And how many times have they been to the big show since then? 0... |
