| For some odd reason, although its been more than 2 weeks since the 13th anniversary of her death,I thought of Princess Diana and the whole tragedy behind her demise yesterday morning while sipping coffee in the kitchen. It was a strange day for me to recall such a thing because I had a full schedule of spending time with my mum and family. And perhaps that is what brought the emotions and vivid memories of that somber, awful moment in the history of my country back.I honestly have never openly spoken about the way I felt regarding her death to anyone besides family and freinds and this will likely be the only tribute that I ever do for any one of celebrity or even royal status because I am against the common beleif that the many should worship the few or the one;however Diana and the way she poured her heart out to the needy and destitute people's around the world, makes this rememberance worth it all. Dear lord was I such a young lad back then.28(and at the time I thought I was getting old ),I was still working for my brother-in-law's machine repair shop in Dartford and as I had just married my darling wife Martha a year earlier,I was looking foward to finally moving back into central London and starting or new life there;I even had a promising job as a car salesman lined up. I remember that it was Saturday night and I knew that Martha would be going to church with my mum and expected me to attend the afternoon prayer service, though I had a bad habit back then of skipping mass all together when I didnt feel like standing in a pew isle for an hour (lol).I went to bed about 1 am that night(which was actually early for me) hoping to get a head start in waking up before my wife and driving to the shop to get it open earlier than usual as we had a huge shipment and delivery coming in on Sunday(plus it would help my excuse of not being in church haha). I remember waking up about 6 am and going to the kitchen to put on waffles and coffee. We had a small TV set on the counter next to the toaster oven.I turned it on and toned it to a very low volume and left the kitchen light out as to not awake Martha.I vividly remember not paying much attention to the contents of the TV until I was done with the waffles out of the oven and warm on my plate.I sat down briefly and glanced at the TV and then got back up to get the coffee.....but something stopped me.I breifly saw the words Princess Diana and car crash on the headlining of the screen.I did an about face and immidiatley doubled back. Sky news was reporting that she had been seriously injured in a Paris Tunnel crash. My heart skipped a few beats and then well before verbally expressing myself I just collapapsed down on the chair and began to absorb what I just heard because I geuss in those days, when someone of note had something of this magnitude happen to them it kind of seemed surreal to everyone else. I had planned to be out of the house before 7 am but as I turned the volume up and sat agassed just staring at the screen, the news from Paris and London just kept getting worse and worse, until around 8:30 am (4 and a half hours after she actually died)the BBC said that Buckingham Palace had confirmed that the Princess of Wales had infact died from multiple injuries sustained in an overnight car crash. By this both me and Martha were awake and just reacting in a very stunned fashion,I had left the house, walked around the block to see if any of my neighbors were outside and then came back several times, and Martha was on the phone with her mum, telling of what happened. It turns out I never made it to the shop that day and ironically Robert(my brother-in-law) said that the delivery likewise never came;perhaps the delivery man was sitting at home just as shaken by this tragic news as the rest of the nation and world was. Ofcourse over the next week there was no where that you could go in London or the UK without over hearing the name of Princess Di and getting involved in various conversations of how such an awful thing could happen to someone of such royal presence. Her Funeral on September 6th was said to have been watched by a 3rd of the world population; a little over 2 billion TV viewers and more than 10 million mourners in London and around the halls of West Minster Abby that day. This alone goes to show the enormous impact that she had wheather or not it was all deserved on the imaginations of humanity. We watched the entire procession from start to finish at Martha's parents home in Attleborough where the 30 members of her family had gathered to witness the even in the living room.It was almost as if we were atteneding a gathering to memorialize the passing of one of our own loved ones, but for most Brits I think the general feeling is that she was one of ours on every level. I do not expect anyone to watch every single clip of the live funeral coverage but this is just my way of finally paying homage to a princess and a person more than deserving of it. She is still our princess and will forever remain in our memories and hearts.Rest inside the pearly gates of heaven where you have now become a queen for eternity Diana of Wales,we all love and miss you but know you are in a much better place. |

| Magnificent post and tribute bro, very well oriented.Yes I remember I was about 12 and we woke up early that Sunday morning to news of her death right before we were to go to church.A few days later me,my mom and my sister watched along with millions of others around the world her funeral. My mom cried.....actually cried for Princess Di even though none of us knew any more about her than what we have heard and seen on the TV.She had that sparkle that just lit up a space where ever she went and I think it was a combination of the media's dread fascianation with her and her good will around the world that made her probably the most beloved and missed royal if not celebrity in the entire world.
1997 was a messed up year, truly a defining moment at the end of the 20th century,It started with the North Hollywood bank shootout and Biggie's death in L.A. a week later, climaxed with Giannia Versace's murder in Miami and Princess Diana's death a month later in Paris and ended with the beggining of a bloody string of school shootings in Pearl,Mississippi and West Paducah Kentucky during the 97'-98' school year.
With all the things that have happened since her death its hard to remember how significant of a figure she actually was prior but RIP to her and everyone else that has left this world before their time.
Life is too short for the things we often bicker over, let go, and just try to live to the fullest everyday. |

| I loved Princess Diana even as a child, there was just something so glowing about her personality. When she died I was just 10 years old,but I was just devastated,I remembered crying while sitting in front of the telvision that day. RIP,the good deeds that she did for others I believe transferred into angel wings when she passed from this horrid world This is one of my favorite photos of all time,I have it posted in a 3X4 ft. wallpaper in my aparenment living room. Princess Di meets with Mother Theresea just months before both of their deathsJust further proof that God only wants the good of humanity to live for eternity with him. She was just as beautiful inside as out. |

| [/quote]That is a cute pic of Diana when she was much younger Lilly. I dont mean to sound insensitive to the topic at hand but she looked alot better when she was in her 20's with red hair. |

| yea cabana she wasnt a bad looking chick when she was a young starlet your right but we all go sometime. Some of us younger some of us older, male and female, attractive or plain, rich and poor.
Thats the funny thing about life you know......
Despite all these little fancy titles or classes that people put themselves in to distance themselves from others or make it seem like we are different or one group is better,we all share and need the bare neccessities of life and come into and leave this world the same way.
Oxygen, water, food, blood flow are essential to the preservation of life.
Birth, trouble and death are definite facts of life. |

| Sometimes I wonder if the realization that the end of this life will come bothers super rich people liek Bill Gates or Donald Trump. |
