I was but a young lad but I remember the eccentricity that went through my mind, heart and body that day when a 38 year old American named Neil Armstrong made not only american history but world history by putting his foot down on the lunar surface of the moon;a place where no living human being had every been before.

Definitely! the greatest technological feat of mankind. cheers

But, somewhere in the next 200 years or so, an even
greater feat... "Are we alone?" will finally be answered.

very intersting article and concept Justt thank you.

I have heard this issue about the possibility of other intelligent life forms existing out in the universe somwhere other than our galaxy before and everyone has there theory on it.

With all that we know about the universe including the fact that it is expanding and infinite I'd say the possibilities are endless and nothing can be ruled out. However according to my own religious beliefs my theory is that if there are other intelligent beings out there they are number 1 placed just far enough away from each other's galaxies not to be detected or discovered(atleast not now) by another and ....now here is the shocker......they are most likely human.

Its interesting,I mean Im not Bible Scholar but I do know that while it extensively mentions the cradle of human civilazation and ancient history it never directly indicates that humanity is only confined to just planet earth.

It is both intriguing and a bit frightening to think that there could other people on planets through out space thinking and openly discussing the same question : Shocked

"Are we alone?"

No problem, I mean to think that
we're the only advanced civilization,
when there's well over 200 billion
galaxies... One has to wonder eh?

Hey, did you see Zeitgeist: The Movie
and Addendum, yet? Man, talk about
"EYE opening." I'll post a thread of it in
Religion.

I was supposed to meet Niel Armstrong at the Atlanta Science fair last summer but he canceled the trip due to illness. All the science classes in my high school went anyway though.

That would be kinda cool to shake the hand of the first human to ever set foot on the moon.

Michael Collins,Niel Armstrong and Buzz Algren. That would be pretty cool to meet the first human beings to ever land on another planet lol.

I wonder why they made a movie about Apollo 13 but not Apollo 11 yet hmm...

The eery thing about the Apollo 11 mission was that Niel and those other guys on his crew were a replacement for the astronauts that were killed in a simulator session 2 years earlier.I think their names were Roger Champman,Ed White and Juss Grissin(from what I remember watching Apollo 13 lol).Armstrong was never originally intended as a first choice and the accident in which the astronauts were literally burned alive inside the capsule while training set the space program and moon mission back a year.Initially it was scheduled to take place for Apollo 10 I think sometime in 68'.

Today is the final shuttle mission after a 30+ year history.Space Shuttle Atlantis lifted off this morning and will be back in 12 days ending the 3 decade long NASA STS mission operations. What a ride and flight it has been eh?

Good luck for them I hope they make it back safely.

Btw,does this mean the end of NASA as a whole or just the end of the shuttle program?
