So, peeps! who's your favorite fe/male gymnast?









She's the 2008 Olympic all around world champion.
2005 and 2007 balance beam champion as well as the
2005 uneven bars champion, accumulating a total of 9
world championship medals (7 individual). Tying both
Shannon Miller and Alicia Sacramone, as the winningest
champion to medal from America.

Originally from Moscow, Russia and now Parker, Texas.

And yea everyone knows that the best female gymnasts in the world are from Russia and Romania(since Nadia Comaneci scored a perfect 10 in Montreal 1976).Speaking of which my favorite would have to be Romanian Olympic medalist Andrea Raducan.

In 2000 along with other media "run away" stories like Y2K and Elian Gonzalez,Andreea's story grabbed international headlines when controversy arose during competition at the Sydney Summer Olympics.Her Gold Medal was stripped because she tested positive for banned substance use.

However it was soon revealed that the substance was a cold medication for an illness she caught while at the Games so she could continue competing.Even though the whole sports world seemed to back her and Chinese female medalists and the entire Romanian delegation threatened to protest by returning their medals,they stripped her of Gold after she had worked so effortlessly to achieve and earn it.Even after an appeal hearing before the IOC they denied a motion by her coach to reconsider.

Although she got to keep her team medal(Romanians swept Gymnastics gold that year)the outrage and public outcry was so great that her fame level boosted the status of Nadia Comanesci whom she met during the ordeal.

I personally felt so bad for her she was around my age back then(16) and afterward I never watched another Olympic Games in entirety again and I dont think she ever competed again.

I think I read somewhere that years later after several appeals the IOC finally recognized the mistake and issued an apology to the Romanian foriegn ministry and Andreea personally.

She's such a cutie.......I dont know what she's up to nowdays(besides being gorgeous) but its hard to belive that I remember all that after 11 years.....man how time flies.
