I'm no where near being into romance novels and films but its cool when they tie it in with historical events like they did in Cold Mountain starring Jude Law,Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellwegger.

Being a war history buff I was more in love with the starting scene of the Battle of St.Petersburg,Virginia than the love story itself lol.More passionatley known as the "Battle of the crater",it occurred in 1864 when 5000 Union Soldiers of the Army of the Potomac under the command of General John D.Hooker charged toward a confederate defense post of about 2000 men.But it wasnt the battle so much that made the event epic,it was happened prior.

For 6 months before the attack,Union engineers and workers actually bored a tunnel 1 and a half miles long and about 150 feet from the surface all the way to the confederate base.....and placed 10000 pound of dynomite directly under the fort line Shocked (now that wansnt every nice Laughing ).

The plan was to cause an underground explosion so massive that it would uproar and rip a gaping hole right through the confederate center so that Northern troops could launch a direct frontal infantry assault.

The explosion went great and is still recorded as being on of the largest conventional explosions in U.S. history..several times more powerful that that at Oklahoma city. However the charge into confederate defenses didnt go so well Crying or Very sad wel because some idiot commander ordered the brigade to charge down off into the crater with the belief that they would come up and over on the other side......instead throngs of men were trampled to death and swamped by one another and even worse got clumped up inside the crater recieving musket fire from southern troops who had survived the explosions just minutes earlier.More than 500 union and 200 southern troops died in the attack and 1500 union troops taken prisoner or wounded.Eventually St.Petersburg was taken months later but to this day what baffles historians, military experts and me is why the hell,if the North went through all that trouble to ingeniously bore a tunnel underneath enemy lines, didnt they just keep tunneling past the fort on into St.Petersburg itself and then place explosives and blow a hole through the city center and rush thousands of troops through the tunnel so they could come out behind confederate lines in what would have been the most brilliant flanking manuever in war time tactics history lol. They could have even charged 2 regiments straight foward across the field while the other 3 were charging underground and coming up from the other sidethen they could have performed a hinge manuever and simply crushed the resistance. But anyway here is one of my favority battle scenes ever.

Without a doubt James Cameron's Titanic falls under so many categories, action, drama, and yes romance....and without a doubt it truly was as critics and fans alike say the best movie ever made.

And again being a history buff I fucking loved this.

If nothing else 2007 King Kong has to be the greatest remake of any film by far.And the gragics and action were spot on.Man that movie deserved to win Best Picture. That is the year I started to hate the Oscars Lilly.

There is nothing quite like that final fight scene where Kong made his last stand atop the Empire State building.I heard that the original film cause such stir the mayor's office actually sent an observation plane across the top of the Empire State building to make sure that there was nothing really up there lol Shocked (it was more to asssure some worried citezens than actualy suspicion).

The 2005 King Kong was so much better than the first.Truly an underrated film.

I never watch the Oscars and or
the Grammy's for the matter, but
I agree in that it should've at least
been nominated let alone win for
Best Picture, back in 05'. Evil or Very Mad
