| After giving much thought I have decided that this thread is best here in the archives department because it speaks of history however I might later determine that it is best elsewhere like the Random Shit or Politics, society culture sections based on how it's participants lead it on. Here all and any pics related and limited too NATIONALLY and or INTERNATIONALLY memorable news, sports music and or other events that made and formed history are allowed. You may either choose to make a single pic or vid posting, comment on one already posted or post one or the other and provide detail on it.You may also post multiple pics in one post though for bandwidth concerns no more than 10 at a time and you may also post pics of famous paintings regarding a specific event or person.Speaking of which pics and vids of individuals are allowed but ONLY those that pertain to important historical events....pls dont post anything about your favorite basketball player or musician if they did not make a SIGNIFICANT impact on society and the world as a whole. Also if your going to post a random pic or vid that you know very few people know about or recall please please provide some detail because if noone can figure out where the hell your going with say this? Then eventually the pic or vid will be taken down.(btw that is the cruise liner Andrea Doria which in 1956 somehow collided with a smaller cruise liner called the USS Stockholm while headed to New York in the Atlantic, the ship sunk in 9 hours on the early morning of the next day and 46 passengers lost their lives rare amateur color photo taken from fishing vessel the morning after the collision). Now this should be fun but I am just setting as many ground rules as possible here so unlike in some other spots of this forum there wont be any misunderstandings here folks. I would suggest that the best place to get pics would be places like CNN.RN,ITN,Getty,Reuters,AP and BBC because the odds of those pics being and regarding a national or international event, figure or issue will be highly more likely then those just randomly plucked off of the internet, however this doesnt mean that you are restricted to just using those sights for pic and vid sources. As far as sports(and this is tricky) as long as its a first,a record,a championship,a globally reported on scandal and globally known figure in action, and or a rare but internationally recognized sporting event like the Olympics or err Gay Games (sorry I couldnt think of another example guys ) its fine. This means that for instance pics or vids of Green Bay winning and celebrating its first Superbowl since 1997 is ok but pics and vids of Green Bay regular season games, crazed fans, even hot cheerleaders without pinpoint proof them being specifically tied to one of the allwances above is not. Pretty much the same thing applies to music, movies and other forms of entertainment. And again YES YOU CAN POST PICS OF INDIVIDUALS just so they have a SIGNIFICANT amount of celeb status, meanin we all see them and know immidiately who they are lol.If not you have to provide detail. So pics of Jessica Simpson ONSTAGE PERFORMING are fine pics of her in skimpy clothing model shoots are not.And red carpet pics are "iffy" just post them if you need to and we will see where that goes lol.I hoep you see where Im going with this.....because this is a historical archive collage of sorts an individual celebrity needs to be seen in the action of doing whatever it is they do....which means Kobe Bryant dunking in a regular season game is ok because he is well known but lets not get to carried away here.......I'd much rather see him holding his team efforted championship trophy with that shit eating grin he wear ......Ohh......wha?........nvm.......I got a little carried away there( ) back on topic.... Now unfortunetly I know these rules and regs for this thread means that Im unfortunetly gonna see alot of stupid pics like Carrot top or Justin you know who but again they better damn well be in action and entertainment when you post them.........Brittney (jk). Now there are a few exceptions to these rules.....for example if you live in a boring place like Idaho,or Wyoming or O I dunno........Hawaii (we love ya bro )then I guess its ok to post a few MAJOR news events, sporting or musical events or figures that didnt exactly make the front of the New York Post or Chicago Tribue lmfao .But otherwise try to stay as on topic as humanly possible pls. Otherwise enjoy posting and reading in this thread and have a great time!

| Let me also just take a brief moment to mention the reasoning behind this thread. While random funny or other miscellaneous pics and vids are not allowed, this is an attempt to do two things: 1.Bring the remnince of the many different area of our minds and this forum together(albeit music, news, politics, culture, tragedy, triumph etc.) and 2.Give those that that would not choose to weigh in on their memories and takes of the world we live in with too many words a chance to do so with an image, vid or just simpyl a few words. When it gets going this should look like a collage a random fond memories.Though current events like the Japanese Earth Quake disaster are allowed as well along with specific pics about different religious groups, nationalities and cultures(though these pics HAVE to hold special significance).SO like for Scotland it needs to be kilt wearing dude playing bagpipes in a parade or for Mexicans it needs to be 20 hiding in carboard boxes sneaking across the border trying pretend like Border Patrol is stupid enough to think that boxes have evolved into walking creature all of a sudden ......nah just kidding.Maybe a pic of a favorite Mexican figure like the girl sherrif or a pic WITH DETAIL ON HOW IT RELATES TO THE CULTURE AND SOCIETY of a authentic Mexican resteraunt in a dusty old cow town for instance. And ofcourse different species of birds are allowed as well. O and btw if your going to post on multiple events, people or issues your posts MUST BE SEPERATED PER ISSUE....and again 10 pics and 5 vids per post no more.(I mean I dont wanna encourage spamming but we just wanna assure that everything is kept in perspective thats all.)And yea yea you can post film pics and vids but I would really prefer that you try as much as possible to focus on the reaction to a film (like awards shows, interviews or behind the scenes looks then the actual film itself).....yes the film MUST MEET REQUIRMENTS SIMILAR TO THAT OF music and sports(albeit box office hit, actor debut,Award winner/nominee for best picture, controversy riser, unprescedented film making strategies.....etc.(Maybe I am being too broad with this lol ) Also do us all a favor and dont write book pages like I just did it makes the thread boring and simpyl did it to lay as many guidelines as I could think of before this gets started.Other than that no spamming,if a flame war breaks out well again freedom of speech but you BETTER BE SILL POSTING PICS AND VIDS WHILE TROLLING! thats for sure HAVE FUN! |

| During America's favorite past time....New York Yankees hall of famer Babe Ruth hits one of the many epic homeruns throughout his celebrated career.
In 1998, The Sporting News ranked Ruth number one on the list of "Baseball's 100 Greatest Players".[3] In 1999, baseball fans named Ruth to the Major League Baseball All-Century Team.[2] In 1969, he was named baseball's Greatest Player Ever in a ballot commemorating the 100th anniversary of professional baseball. In 1993, the Associated Press reported that Muhammad Ali was tied with Babe Ruth as the most recognized athletes, out of over 800 dead or alive athletes, in America. The study found that over 97% of Americans over 12 years of age identified both Ali and Ruth.[4] According to ESPN, he was the first true American sports celebrity superstar whose fame transcended baseball.[5] In a 1999 ESPN poll, he was ranked as the third-greatest US athlete of the century, behind Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali.[2]
Ruth was the first player to hit 60 home runs in one season (1927), setting the season record which stood until broken by Roger Maris in 1961. Ruth's lifetime total of 714 home runs at his retirement in 1935 was a record, until first surpassed by Hank Aaron in 1974. Unlike many power hitters, Ruth also hit for average: his .342 lifetime batting is tenth highest in baseball history, and in one season (1923) he hit .393, a Yankee record.[6] His .690 career slugging percentage and 1.164 career on-base plus slugging (OPS) remain the Major League records.[2] Ruth dominated the era in which he played. He led the league in home runs during a season twelve times, slugging percentage and OPS thirteen times each, runs scored eight times, and runs batted in (RBIs) six times. Each of those totals represents a modern record (as well as the all-time record, except for RBIs).(you can also copy past from places like wiki to detail a pic or vid if you need like here for example). |

| Jewish Children in Stolaask(Poland)....one of the many Nazi concentration camps located throughout captured parts of western and eastern Europe during World War 2.The cost of genocide was high for mainly European Jews kidnapped from their homes through out Africa and Europe and sent to these death centers....more than 6 million would die before the war's end and Germany's surrender in 1945. |

| Willis Tower (formerly named, and still commonly referred to as Sears Tower) is a 108-story, 1451-foot (442 m) skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois.[1] At the time of its completion in 1974, it was the tallest building in the world, surpassing the World Trade Center towers in New York, and it held this rank for nearly 25 years. The Willis Tower is the tallest building in the United States and the fifth-tallest freestanding structure in the world, as well as the fifth tallest building in the world to the roof.
Although Sears' naming rights expired in 2003, the building continued to be called Sears Tower for several years. In March 2009 London-based insurance broker Willis Group Holdings, Ltd., agreed to lease a portion of the building and obtained the building's naming rights.[3] On July 16, 2009, the building was officially renamed Willis Tower. |

LoL Kasparov the world grand master owned.....by a computer May 1997. | I remember that tournament lik yesterday. As an avid chess player myself,i too like Kasparov was left stunned by the actions of a mere computing machine.Even though Deep Blue was/is a super computer that was still remarkable considering that it was able to out calculate human logic which essentially created it to begin with. |
