Lisa "Lefteye"Lopes-hip hop rapper and member of "TLC"groupLisa Nicole Lopes (May 27, 1971 – April 25, 2002), better known by her stage name Left Eye, was an American rapper, singer, dancer, songwriter, and member of the R&B girl group TLC.

Lopes contributed her own self-written raps to many of TLC's singles, including "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg", "What About Your Friends", "Hat 2 da Back", "Waterfalls" and "Girl Talk" In fact, Lopes wrote 20 of TLC's songs released or not and over 24 songs in guest appearences and her own songs. She was also known for wearing a pair of glasses with a condom in place of the left eye lens in the beginning of her career, which was one of the ways she promoted safe sex. Lopes got the nickname "Left Eye" from a boyfriend who noticed that her left eye appeared slightly larger than her right.[3]
After Fanmail, Lopes began to expand her solo career. She became a featured rapper on several singles, including former Spice Girl Melanie C's "Never Be the Same Again", which went to #1 in 35 countries, including the UK.[10] She was also featured on the first single from Donell Jones' second album, entitled "U Know What's Up", and she sang "Space Cowboy" with *NSYNC on their 2000 album, No Strings Attached. Lopes also collaborated on "Gimme Some" by Toni Braxton from her 2000 release The Heat. In 2001 she appeared in two commercials for The Gap, one solo and the other with India.Arie, Liz Phair, and Sheryl Crow, where she was featured singing, instead of rapping, for the first time alone.

Lopes was also the host of the short-lived MTV series, The Cut, a precursor to American Idol in which a handful of would-be pop stars, rappers, and rock bands competed against each other and were judged. The show's winner, which ended up being a male-female rap duo, was promised a record deal and funding to produce a music video, which would then enter MTV's heavy rotation. A then-unknown Anastacia finished in third place, but so impressed Lopes and the show's three judges, that she scored a record deal as well. About nine months before her death, Lopes appeared on the singers' edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire along with Joey McIntyre, Tyrese, Nick Lachey, and Lee Ann Womack. She dropped from a $125,000 question and won $32,000 for charity. A year later, in 2002, the episode of her drop was shown and was dedicated to her.

Lopes created "Left Eye Productions" to discover new talent. She helped the R&B trio Blaque to secure a record deal with Columbia Records. Their self-titled debut album was executive-produced by Lopes, who also made a cameo appearance on the album and in their music video "I Do". Lopes was also developing another new band called Egypt. They worked on her second album under her new nickname, N.I.N.A, meaning New Identity Not Applicable.[11]
Lopes had already started work on both her second solo album and on songs for the fourth TLC album, 3D, when she died in a car accident in La Ceiba, Honduras, on April 25, 2002. She was the sole fatality of ten people in the vehicle, a Mitsubishi Montero that she was driving. Lopes allegedly tried to swerve around a truck, but there was another vehicle heading towards them in the opposite direction. To avoid a head-on collision, Lopes swerved all the way off the road. The vehicle rolled several times after hitting two trees, throwing Lopes and three others out of the windows. She died from severe head and neck injuries.[19] The passenger in the front passenger seat was videotaping at the time, so the entire accident was recorded on video. Lopes' mother Wanda later sued Mitsubishi Motors, as the Montero was prone to rollovers according to a 2001 Consumer Reports review.[20]

Her funeral was held at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia.[21] Engraved upon her white casket was her rap from "Waterfalls": "Dreams are hopeless aspirations, in hopes of coming true, believe in yourself, the rest is up to me and you". Lopes was buried at Hillandale Memorial Gardens, in Lithonia, Georgia, USA.[22]

After spending much of her childhood in foster homes, Monroe began a career as a model, which led to a film contract in 1946. Her early film appearances were minor, but her performances in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve (both 1950) were critically acclaimed. In a few years, Monroe reached stardom and was cast as the leading lady in such films as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire, The Seven Year Itch, and Some Like It Hot.

The typecasting of Monroe's "dumb blonde" persona limited her career prospects, so she broadened her range. She studied at the Actors Studio and formed Marilyn Monroe Productions. Her dramatic performance in Bus Stop was hailed by critics, and she won a Golden Globe Award for Some Like it Hot.

The final years of Monroe's life were marked by illness, personal problems, and a reputation for being unreliable and difficult to work with. Her future success however in being the next petite hottie for young and old men to druell over (lol) was not to be as another popular scouting agent came knocking one late evening in the summer of that year called the Grim Reaper. On July 5,2005 the day after Mararet had enjoyed a day at the beach and a hotel party with 2 of her closest friends in Atlantic City,New Jersey, the trio were riding in Margerets 1999 Mercedes Benz SL,traveling southbound on Interstate 40 heading toward Longport,NJ when the vehicle blew a front driver side tire while traveling at over 80 miles an hour.According to investigators just moments before doom struck,Margaret(who had only had her driver license for 3 weeks)over steered the car in the desperate attempt to control its direction.Instead this caused the car to swerve out of control, fly over the median and cross over into North bound lanes of the highway way the car collided horrifically with another vehicle and both cars burst into searing flames.State police said that a total of 5 people were killed in the horriffic accident including an elderly couple from North Winston and all 3 girls in the Mercedes, including 17 year old Margaret. The charred and damaged remains of the 5 victims were so bad that it took the Atlantic County medical examiners office 2 weeks to completely identify all the the victims by dental records.

You are most certainly correct lilly, she was very gracious and seemed humble for the oppurtunities she'd been given. She also didnt seem too rattled or big headed about being a celebrity either.I loved her acute meekness and with ragards to beauty..... Shocked whew! she still ranks in my books as one of the top 10 most beautiful black female celebrities ever.

She was a gorgeous girl from head to toe and unlike alot of Hollywood's upper echelon she always dressed to kill.......lol check out these pics of here at the Vanity Fair 2001 Oscar After Party in Los Angeles lil.......God from head to toe she was just perfect in every photo.

I had no idea Britanny Murphy was that sexy. Shocked Must have been when she was younger lol.Though I never really paid much attention to her,she seemed from those photos to be a very nice petite actress.I do remember her from 8 Mile with eminem.Btw,I know this is maybe a stupid question but where did aaliyah die again?I only remember vaguely hearing about her death.

Check Aaliyah! I so love her! Such nice pictures of her.

She died in the Bahamas back in 2001 after shooting her music video, the claim was that the plane was overweight by 700lbs with too many people and luggage. The pilot wasn't properly licensed to be flying the aircraft and was a crack user- it's was his dumb ass fault that all those innocent people had to die.

What type of stupid ass moron puts so many people in danger and crashes a plane killing himself and 7 others when he wasn't even supposed to be flying a plane. Such a senseless waste and disregard for human life all because of one stupid person not being responsible, actually the airline company wasn't responsible either and the FAA. Evil or Very Mad The pilot was arrested two weeks before the crash for crack possesion and the FAA didn't revoke his license yet which is complete BS! Imagine if it were a commercial airline pilot. SMH.

Her parents filed wrongful death lawsuits as you can imagine and a few family members of others who died did so also.

wow,it sounds like a pretty bad group of circumstances their broken.I had no idea.Ironically that same year of 2001 a Luthansa jet crashed near hear in Switzerland and killed 24 of 33 people onboard.Of those killed were Melonie Thorton and 2 members of the Euro-pop group 'Passion Fruit'.But in that case wheather was a factor, the swiss gaurd office determined the the plane should have never tried to take off from the airport in Lipzeig Germany where it originated because of the extreme winter storm.I know alot of Americans probably dont know about her but she was the lead singer of La Bouche during the 90's and also the voice behind the Coca Cola Christmas commercial theme song:

I was a big fan,I miss her voice Crying or Very sad

here is another one of her hits during her short lived solo career right before her death.

such a lost talent.

Oh yes I’ve hear about her. Someone mentioned her on a youtube video about Aaliyah I believe and they mentioned the similarities between their deaths. She passed almost exactly 3 months after Aaliyah-kind of weird. I'm not familiar with her work but I have heard of her. She had a great voice that was a really great song.

It's really sad and horrible to think about how they died. I could not imagine the sheer torture and fear they all must have felt knowing that your plane is going down and you are probably not going to make it. What goes through your mind, gosh I can't imagine that. Just think about flying on a plane and how nervous you get from a little turbulence- I get extremely nervous. Just knowing you are about to die must be the most frightening thing ever.

Such terrible tragedies. May they all rest in peace.

Yea I know right....even after 8 mile I never really paid that much attention to her because there just so many hot chicks back in the early to mid 2000's it was no way to keep track of them all lol.But now looking into her more since her unfortunete death it has opened my eyes to what a beuty she was in her own petite and unique way lol.I think she was a very underated Hollywood actress and hottie, but the paparazzi loved her.

yes, actually there was a documentary on TV the other day called "Sudden Impact".Some scientists were conducting these wierd experiements on people's brains to see what a persons last or dying thoughts and reaction would be if it happened.

They put them in multiple situations inside of 3-D simulators like just before a serious car crash or falling off a cliff and provided sound effects to match the visual effects lol. Some gave off brain signals that indictated that they were horrified and bracing for what was about to happen to them, yet there still others(fewer statistically)that seemed to indicate that they were accepting and calm with what was about to occur.

I think thats true when people talk about their "life flashing before their eyes",everyone reacts to stuff differently.Im sure there have been plenty of people before they died that knew what was about to most likely happen to them and were consciously going through a million thoughts in a matter of seconds.

Hopefully Melonie,Aaliyah and those other girls didnt have to phsycially and mentally suffer like this.Hopefully they eithe rdidnt know what hit them or were at peace with themselves about it,though its hard to imagine how they could be.

Really? That sounds interesting. I too hope they didn't have to suffer at all-it's such a hard thing to even imagine. I think about what I would think if I were in that situation just feeling the plane dropping to the ground knowing you might not make it. I think that's everyones worst nightmare when flying to think if that ever happened, well atleast mines is when I fly. Just horrifying I hope they were at peace too. But the thing is the plane only lifted off the ground 40 feet they said and Aaliyahs bodyguard actually survived the initial impact and died later on. Such a tragic way to go.

I know it must tear their families apart to think about, the families usually just hope that they didn't have to suffer at all. I lost a cousin in a vehicle accident and that's all I thought-I just hope and prayed he didn't suffer for long if at all Sad

Rest In Peace to them all. Tough stuff to think about.

Im sorry to hear about your cousin broken.I have been fortunete enough not to loose any of my immidiate family members however when I was much younger I used to have to frequently travel with my father, who is a marketing representative for IKEA(maybe you heard of them they make furniture lol) and I used to dread plane trips.Even after I got used to it and didnt feel a thing when we lifted off,I knew we were off the ground and I knew that could be trouble.

I never ever spoke to either of my parents about my fear and hatred of flying because Im one of those people who likes to appear strong even when they are not in some areas lol.I dont fear flying as much as I used to(mostly cause I dont travel that much anymore),but in the back of my mind its always that thought of what if.I try to travel by train or car as much as I can if its another country I have to go to in Europe. But then again ground travel can be very dangerous too(depending on conditions and surroundings).

Thank you. I understand I used to be a lot worse with flying then I am now. I think we do all have a purpose and things happen for a reason sometimes if not all the time. We can't change what will be, and we don't know why. I used to put on a brave face too but I would get visibly uneasy so my mom would know. Now I just sit there and try not to think about it. I travel overseas about two times a year so it's not that bad but I do dread having to go and think about it constantly.

You are right about other things being dangerous -getting in a car is just as bad but I guess it's just a control thing. In planes we don't know who is controlling it and we aren't the ones in control and the actually flying in the air part. In a car you most often times know the person and most times you stand a chance of survival, in planes a crash is never good. Trains are just as bad for me lol. I dont have them where I live so I don't use them much.

But that is my WORST fear dying in a plane crash - I think it's because I've seen so many movies on it and stuff and Aaliyahs death was when I was 10 going on 11 years old and then September 11th happened right after. I guess being so young it just hit me hard and has always stayed with me. I really couldn't even wrap my brain around it at the time but I'll never forget it.
